Q: My husband and I and our children are going to Hawaii soon and I was wondering if anyone has been to the Hale Koa luau and if so, what did you think of it. I appreciate your feedback.

A: I haven't been to the Hale Koa's luau but can give you some suggestions. 1) If you're looking for the "luau experience", try the Paradise Cove luau (nice location). You'll be shuttled out to the west side of the island and have standard Hawaiian food buffett. Entertainment will be a hula show revue w/ fire knife dancing. 2) You can go to the Polynesian Cultural Center; its kind of a cultural theme park, so this would be an all-day affair. They have a dinner show that's pretty good and the overall theme park atmosphere can be entertaining. They also have shuttles, so you don't have to drive on your own. 3)Or... if you want good Hawaiian food, go to Ono Hawaiian Food. It's right outside of Waikiki on Kapahulu Ave. The dining area is pretty small and parking is a hassle, so your best bet is to call in an order and go pick it up. You can then go to the beach for your own little luau. Hope you enjoy your trip.
