A: Wow I'm kind of sad that people are recommending chain restaurants that you could go to in any City. I would hope that you know about Macaroni grill and the like already, but I guess if you don't then maybe that is helpful. I'm sure this will make my answer unpopular with the other people who answered. I guess since I don't know what part of town you are going to be in, I'll just throw out a few of the restaurants in town that are voted consistently by St. Louisians as having the best food. In the Delmar Loop, Blueberry Hill is a great place to go for a burger and the atmosphere and memorabilia is awesome. Another great place for a burger is O'Connell's Pub on Kingshighway near the Botanical Garden. The Iron Barley has great food, although the neighborhood leaves something to be desired. Zia's is a great spot for casual Italian on "the Hill", which is an area with all sorts of Italian restaurants in all price ranges, but Zia's is definitely affordable. I like a place called Pueblo Solis for Mexican food which is in the South St. Louis area and not too far from Ted Drewes which is a great place to go for Frozen Custard and a St. Louis landmark. Dewey's and Pi are great if you want to try some gourmet pizza that is a little pricey, but not too expensive. Fortel's is another great local pizza place which loads up the pizza with toppings and is in line with what you would pay for most pizza. You can go to most of these places for under $15 per person assuming you aren't going to have alcohol. I've attached a link to the local independent paper with some of their recommendations for the best of Category. If you are a little more specific to what type of food and what part of town, you'll probably get some more really good suggestions. Edit: After reading Jon's post I agree with Hacienda and Farotto's also 2 places I go all the time and are good for Mexican and Pizza. The Central West End is great and has some nice pubs and a good mix of inexpensive and expensive. Llywellyn's is a good bar and grill in the CWE
